“Back to the Farm is a narrative about a family that returned to its roots after the father retired from a factory job in the city. His dream was kept alive by his ever-loyal wife when illnesses limited the man’s abilities. Then, as the couple reached their 80’s, a son came home to assist them in raising cattle and soon found himself in over his head. Read stories, many humorous and some sad, of this family and of the novice rancher son learning to help run the family cattle farm. You may fall in love with some of the four-legged characters, as the author has done. Despite having many more lessons to come, the author wrote this book to provide a lot of information for others new to cattle and ranching. Expect to laugh and shake your head as the author discovers the depth of his ignorance about his new vocation.”

When my dad decided to write another book, of course I was the one he turned to. This one was a much less difficult manuscript to handle, at least from the emotional angle, but it was complicated by his desire to include a lot more pictures in with the text. I know that’s not a line editor’s job to handle, but I am a man who has worn many hats in life.

A combination of family history and anecdotes, this work may not be for everyone, but if you want to know what life can be like out in the middle of American farm country, this can give you a taste of it.
