In the fantasy land of Ismark, a child slave named Eirick has his life thrown into chaos and adventure when a blaze erupts in his slave encampment. Thus begins the journey in which we join Eirick as he explores unfamiliar places and cultures.

Meanwhile, around him lies an obscure world of political manipulation, greed, treachery, and barbarism.

In this first book of the new Ismark series, enter an exciting and wonderful fantasy world inspired by ancient Norse culture – as well as touches of Roman and Persian. Experience Eirick’s adventure, and explore both the darker and the more noble aspects of people who must find ways to live in such a world.

This is the first book by Norwegian author JH Lillevik, who has written many short stories, comics, scripts, and articles for over 20 years.

Enjoy.

When I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of this book, I was quickly sucked into the world, but my brain was frustrated by the editing issues that some reviewers have noted about the work. Having something in common with a certain dwarf from the Chronicles of Prydain, I was not content to let it be.

Having been friends with the author for a few years now, I reached out and offered to tackle the challenge of editing the manuscript. A story like this deserves a proper editing! Now, as of the second edition, it has one.

I now await the sequel.
